Academic work does not have to be isolating. Find solidarity with Coworking Units.

Coworking Units

  • Coworking Units are about fostering solidarity among academics. That means creating low-stakes, supportive interactions that bridge disciplinary and institutional divides.

  • The core of the Coworking Units are regular check-in meetings (e.g. biweekly, monthly, bimonthly). Hear about your colleagues ongoing projects, and help them (and yourself) stay accountable to your deadlines.

  • These units involve members at various ranks and across various specialities. The thing they have in common? Wanting to help each other thrive.

  • Finding jobs, meeting the expectations of our departments and workplaces, and fighting the natural isolation of academic work are tasks that are often left up to individuals to solve. The Coworking Unit is a space to help each other manage these things outside of the treadmill of the research cycle.
